Client: The World Bank
Challenge: The partner countries of the Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA) were moving towards transitioning their individual visa programs into a single unified visa system called KAZA VISA. The World Bank hired Blue Marble Creative to develop a brand identity and to create communication materials that would help to promote and gain support for the KAZA VISA program.
Process: Working as a graphic designer for Blue Marble, I was tasked with creating an illustration to serve as the symbol for the KAZA Visa program. The Victoria Falls bridge connects the two pilot countries of Zambia and Zimbabwe and was perfect to show their close partnership. It needed to be drawn accurately, and an ideal view would show both countries with the falls in the background. I used a combination of detail in the structure, and a more graphic approach to the scene. The difference in styles and the bright golden color of the bridge put the emphasis right where it needed to be.
Outcome: The illustration and logo were used together on rack cards, letterhead, banners, folders, and the KAZA VISA promotional booklet. I had a hand in all these projects under the creative direction of Lisa and Christine of BMC.
